Jimin Liang

Professor / Biomedical Engineering



Jimin Liang received the B.E., M.E. and Ph. D. degrees in electronic engineering from Xidian University, Xi'an, China, in 1992, 1995 and 2000, respectively. He joined Xidian University in 1995, where he is now a professor in the School of Life Science and Technology. In the year of 2002, he was a research associate professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA. He is an executive member of Shaanxi Society of Biomedical Engineering, standing member of the Molecular Imaging Society of China, and member of IEEE and SPIE. His general areas of research are in biomedical imaging, medical image analysis and pattern recognition. He has authored or coauthored more than 100 journal papers and 30 granted patents on those topics. He was the recipient of 2010 Progress Award in Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education of China and 2012 National Invention Award of China.

Shouping Zhu

Professor / Biomedical Engineering



Shouping Zhu received his B.E. degree in biomedical engineering and M.E. degree in signal and information processing from Xidian University, Xi’an, China, in 2004 and 2007, respectively, and Ph.D degree in pattern recognition and intelligent systems from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, in 2010. He is currently a professor at the School of Life Science and Technology, Xidian University. His research interests include multi-modality medical imaging system, micro-CT imaging, PET imaging, optical imaging, and tomography reconstruction with GPU.

Xueli Chen

Professor / Biomedical Engineering



Xueli Chen received the B.E. degree in Biomedical Engineering, and the Ph.D. degree in Pattern Reorganization and Intelligence System from Xidian University, Xi’an, China, in 2007 and 2012, respectively. He joined Xidian University in 2012, where he is now a professor in the School of Life Science and Technology and the director of Biophotonics Imaging and Bio-Applications (BIOPIA) Research Center. He was awarded by the CSC as a post-doctoral researcher at the Biomedical Engineering, Purdue University, Indiana, USA. He is a member of IEEE, SPIE, OSA, WMIS, and Chinese Society of Integration Oncology. His research areas are in biomedical imaging, and medical image analysis, more specifically focus on developing novel, multiscale imaging techniques to understand the cancer and brain. He has published as the first or corresponding authors more than 35 journal papers (including Nat Commun) and 10 granted patents (including a US patent) on those topics. He was the recipient of the Young Teachers Fund of Fok Ying-Tong Education Foundation, the Youth Talent in Shaanxi Province, and the Young Star of Science and Technology in Shaanxi Province.

Yonghua Zhan

Associate Professor / Biomaterial



Yonghua Zhan received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Shihezi University, Xinjiang, China, in 2003 and 2006, respectively. After he received the Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering form Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China, he joined Xidian University in 2010, where he is now an associate professor in the School of Life Science and Technology. In the year of 2015, he did postdoc research at the Department of Radiology, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, USA. He is a member of the Shaanxi Society of Biomedical Engineering and yong member of the Molecular Imaging Society of China. His general areas of research are in molecular imaging probes for cancer precise diagnosis and treatment, smart nano-drug delivery system and medical imaging contrast agent. He has authored or coauthored more than 35 journal papers and 6 granted patents on those topics. He was the recipient of 2016 Award in Science and Technology of the Shaanxi and 2016 Award in Science and Technology of Shaanxi College and University.

Duofang Chen

Associate Professor / Biomedical Engineering



Duofang Chen received her Ph.D degree in signal and information processing from Xidian University in 2009. Now she is an associate professor with the school of Life Science and Technology in Xidian University. Her research area includes the inverse reconstruction, signal and image processing in advanced 3-Dimensional medical imaging.

Haihong Hu

Associate Professor / Biomedical Engineering



Haihong Hu received the B.E. degree from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 1994 and M.E degree from Xidian University in 2001. Now she is an associate professor with the school of Life Science and Technology in Xidian University. Her research interests are image processing and pattern recognition.

Xu Cao

Associate Professor / Biomedical Engineering



Xu Cao received his Ph. D. degree in biomedical engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2013. He is now an associate professor in the School of Life Science and Technology. In the year of 2018, he was a research scientist at the Thayer School, Dartmouth College, Hanover, USA. His general areas of research are in biomedical imaging, molecular fluorescence imaging and Cherenkov imaging.

Minghao Dong

Associate Professor / Neural Imaging



Minghao Dong received the B.E., M.E. and Ph. D. degrees in electronic engineering from Xidian University, Xi'an, China. He received the ‘Outstanding junior researcher award in basic science’ from Society of Acupuncture Research in 2013. His general areas of research are in cognitive neuroscience and hybrid artificial intelligence. Specifically, his study concerns how real-world visual experience shapes the human brain and how these plastic brain changes facilitate human performance (especially visual experience) in return using MRI, EEG and behavioral methods. Also, he focuses on how acquisition of real-world behavioral expertise (i.e. visual expertise) can be accelerated through behavioral training and non-invasive brain stimulation. Moreover, he is particularly interested in how visual categorization and recognition can be optimized by hybrid intelligent system combining human visual recognition expertise and machine capability.

Qi Zeng

Associate Professor / Biomedicine



Qi Zeng received her Ph.D. degree in pharmacy from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, in 2012. She is an associate professor in the School of Life Science and Technology, Xidian University. Her research interests include biomedical imaging and pro-drug research.

Yun Zeng

Lecturer / Biomaterial



Yun Zeng received the B.E. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2011 and 2016, respectively, and was a postdoc research fellow in Department of Chemistry, Missouri University of Science and Technology from 2016 to 2017. He joined the School of Life Science and Technology, Xidian University in 2018. His research interests focus on biomaterials in optical imaging and drug delivery.

Xinyi Xu

Lecturer / Molecular Biology



Xinyi Xu received her Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China in 2012, and was a postdoc research fellow in the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2012-2016. Now She is a lecturer in the School of Life Science and Technology, Xidian university. Her research interests include antibody coupling by photo click and biomedical imaging research.

Hui Xie

Lecturer / Molecular Biology



Hui Xie received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Shaanxi Normal University, Xi'an, China in 2009 and 2012, respectively. He joined Xidian University in 2012, where he is pursuing his Ph.D degree in the School of Life Science and Technology. His research interests include biomedical imaging and molecular biology. He has authored or coauthored 5 journal papers on these topics.

Shenghan Ren

Postdoc / Biomedical Engineering



Shenghan Ren received his B.E., M.E. and Ph. D. degrees in electronic engineering from Xidian University, Xi’an, China, in 2010, 2013 and 2016, respectively. He joined Xidian University in 2017. Now he is a postdoc at the School of Life Science and Technology. His researches focus on optical molecular imaging and biomedical image processing. He is mainly interested in deep learning, neural network and 3D reconstruction.

Fanzhen Meng

Postdoc / Biomedical Engineering



Fanzhen Meng received her PhD degree in biomedical engineering form Xidian University, Xi'an, China, in 2018. Now she is a postdoct in the School of Life Science and Technology, Xidian University. Her research focuses on positron emission tomography, multi-modality imaging systems and 3D image reconstruction.
